Feel free to print out this handy checklist form. Use this checklist of items to ask the previous owner or seller about before you lose touch with them so you don’t have to “rediscover” the vagaries and operational stuff for your home all over again.

There is a lot an owner knows about his/her home that rarely gets transferred to the new owners, perhaps because the process often keeps the two parties somewhat separated and/or the owner doesn't feel free to discuss everything due to disclosure/fair representation issues. But ask the questions if you can and just be mindful that some questions may require more tact to get an honest answer!
